Welcome to Booleroo
Booleroo Centre, founded, in 1875 is in a large agricultural region. Grain growing is the major part of this industry with wool, sheep and prime lamb production also significant. Part of the Mount Remarkable District Council , Booleroo Centre is smack in the middle of the beautiful Southern Flinders Region.
"Booleroo" (as it is known) is a service town to the surrounding district. One of the main service businesses is Booleroo Agencies Pty Ltd with a multi-million-dollar turnover. Other services include engineering, farm merchandise suppliers, garages, a supermarket, bakery and cafe.
It derives its name from the aboriginal word meaning, "place of mud". Together with the twin farming community of Murraytown, they feature many points of interest and provide a range of basic facilities for the tourist. There are several scenic drives and lookouts such as Box Hill, Magners Hill and Baroota Nob.
Booleroo Centre also provides a K-12 District School, 31-bed hospital, 25-unit senior citizens' home with a number of independent living units and a full range of sporting facilities.
Booleroo is also the home of the Booleroo Steam and Traction Preservation Society.
